Historical and Cultural Itineraries
The strategic location of Trullo dell’Aia allows easy access to the nearby villages of Cisternino, Ostuni, Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Ceglie di Messapica, and Grottaglie, as well as some of the most picturesque coastal towns in Puglia.
Cisternino
Cisternino is the candid village of the Itria Valley, a maze of streets and squares where you can taste typical Apulian dishes (bombette, sausages, gnumeredd). It has an important cycle tourism route, the Apulian Aqueduct cycle path, which is the second most important in Europe. Don’t miss the sunset from the viewpoint of the municipal villa overlooking the Itria Valley.

Ostuni
Perched on three hills, overlooking the valley, Ostuni is the white city, where it’s delightful to get lost among alleys, stairways, arches, balconies, white houses, flowers, baroque portals, and streets leading to breathtaking panoramic views. Here you’ll find shops and restaurants where you can taste typical dishes such as orecchiette with turnip greens, fava bean puree, and panzerotto.

Locorotondo
The name of this village encompasses its geometry made of many Cummerse with sloping roofs, and it is perhaps the most beautiful and evocative village to visit. It’s perfect for spending evenings together, with all kinds of venues along the streets, especially along the so-called “lungomare,” a road that runs along the outer edge of the historic center and overlooks a wonderful view of the Itria Valley, from which during the Locus Festival, you can admire a beautiful fireworks display.

Alberobello
Alberobello, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a unique place where time seems to stand still. Getting lost in its alleys means immersing oneself in the past, among the ancient homes of farmers; it’s a true paradise for photography lovers. The Rione Monti, with its Siamese trullo, and the Rione Aia Piccola are the two main stops.

Ceglie Messapica
One of the oldest villages, it extends at the foot of the Ducal Castle and the Norman tower. Not to be missed is the Ceglie sandwich and biscuit, recognized as a Slow Food presidium.

Martina Franca
Noble, refined, elegant, with its baroque palaces. In addition to its architectural beauties, it is also known for the production of Capocollo di Martina Franca.

Grottaglie
It is called the city of ceramics, famous for the production of particularly valuable artistic ceramics. The Figuli or Camini district is one of the most famous places, as it is full of workshops carved into caves where ceramics are crafted.
